The Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh today Tuesday 9th March 2021 opened the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development ‘Local Councils Staff Retreat’ on the theme: “Deepening Decentralization and Enhancing Service Delivery in Local Government”.
The retreat which is being held at the Gallinness Hotel in Bo will last from March 9th to March 12th. The VP, in his capacity as the chair of the inter-ministerial committee on decentralization, officially opened the four day retreat.
In his key note address, VP Juldeh Jalloh reiterated the commitment of the New Direction Government to support the strengthening of local governance at all levels.
He called for a new shift from “who runs what” to building strategic partnership with government that will drive local development.
The VP will spend the next four days in the region. In taking governance to the people, as part of the New Direction government’s policy, it could be recalled that VP Juldeh Jalloh launched the Local Government Decentralization Policy Review in October 2019 at the Miatta Conference Center, Brookfields, Freetown.
